The Aramón Leitner Cable Car and ‘The World of Ice’ exhibition will be permanently open to the public as of Saturday 14 June, the day when the International Expo Zaragoza 2008 opens its doors.
Throughout the three months of the Expo, the cable car will be in continuous operation from 09.30am to 03.00am at a cost of 9 euros for a return trip. A ride in the cable car is a unique journey that boasts the best views over the Expo and the city of Zaragoza.
This ticket also includes admission to ‘The World of Ice’ exhibition, a creation of the famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner. The museum is open from 10am to 10pm. The exhibition revolves around snow and ice: the natural elements that cover our peaks, forming part of the life cycle of all mountain peoples. This is a very apt for an International Expo with theme of "Water and Sustainable Development", encompassing a wave of sensations to bring visitors closer to this extreme phenomenon through works by different artists of international acclaim such as Messner, Eliasson, Aitken, Ditsch, Huber, Julien, Maté, Helnwein, Fulton, Almalé and Bondía. High-ranking officials, after the virgin voyage
El Presidente de Aragón, Marcelino Iglesias, ha inaugurado la Telecabina Expo Zaragoza 2008 de la UTE Aramón-
The Head of the Government of Aragon, Marcelino Iglesias, has opened the Expo Zaragoza 2008 Cable Car, created by the Aramón-Leitner temporary consortium. The ropeway joins the Zaragoza Delicias Intermodal Station with the Ranillas site. At the same ceremony, Marcelino Iglesias also opened ‘The World of Ice’ exhibition, created by the famous mountaineer Reinhold Messner and located at the Arrivals Terminal (Aramón-Leitner Pavilion).
In his speech, Marcelino Iglesias affirmed "Aramón is a company that is modernising ours ski resorts, carrying out very important work". He also stated that "in two years tourism will account for 8% of our economy"
The act was also attended the Regional Secretary for Public Works, Urban Development, and Transport, Javier Velasco and the Regional Secretary for Industry, Trade and Tourism, Arturo Aliaga.
